I mean, sure, Cosmo is a complete idiot most of the time and has a tendency to grant stupid wishes and Wanda can be a bit of a nag at times but the writers have made it very clear that the two care for Timmy and will go to insane lengths to support him and make him happy. We know from Abra Catastrophe that it is exceptionally rare for a godkid to go even one year without doing something stupid that causes them to lose their godparents and their chance at learning whatever purpose this is meant to serve.
